Song Index (chrono)

On this page you find a list of all the songs included in this website sorted in recording chronological order. That means all complete tracks recorded live or in studio. It doesn’t cover the AT – alternate takes.

Table’s abbreviations an titles

First column brings the sequential index number used in this side. MT – in blue – means master takes resulting from studio sessions. LR – em green – means live recordings. Special LR types are FILM (movie soundtrack), BC (radio broadcasts) or TV (television broadcasts). Those symbols appear in the third column.

Second column shows the song title, and fourth the date when the recording session took place.

Original label in the fifth bears the Label and number of the original disc (the first vinyl record on the market). Finally, the releasing date.

Some tracks were unissued in vinyl, being later released in Compact Disc.

I apologize for the lack of sharpness in the table text, but that was the best way I found to condense text and save space, allowing for more information per line. If you click in the table, quality improves a little bit.

  1. I am totally thankful and grateful that someone took the time and had the patience and intelligence to compile this list. For music lovers this is invaluable information and makes the study and appreciation of these artists that much more enjoyable and fulfilling!

  2. Forever greatful! I’m a millinial and Billie Holiday is my new found obsession. Been trying to find a resource that had all her songs in chronological order so I binge from front to back although it’s been hard to stay on track! I’ve already listed to the whole Lady in Satin album when I was just supposed to be listen to “I’m a fool to want you” haha. That haunting voice post heavy drugs and alcohol just lured me right in. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this!

    • Hi. Welcome to Billie’e fan club. You can also listen to some tunes in the Recording Sessions menu. let me know if you need any help.
      Regards, Paulo.

  3. I have a vinyl 45 by Billy Holiday (presumably a misspelling) with Tiny Grimes Sextet on Aladdin records (in small writing) and Vogue Productions (in larger writing) . One side is Detour Ahead, the other is Blue Turning Grey Over You. I cant find this record on any listings although it shows up on YouTube. Any thoughts welcome on why it appears nowhere else and its value..

    • David,
those tracks were recorded at NY Alladin studios in 29.04.1951 and launched in two 78rpm
See them in 1951 Sessions in my site.
Billie recorded only 4 tracks for Alladin, that´s why it is not well known.
For values, try to find in eBay.
      Best,
